The hottest trends in the industry right now are comfort foods and classic dessert flavors.

Staying ahead of the curve, Monin responds to satisfying the desire for these nostalgic indulgences by expanding their selection to include Banana Nut Bread, Cinnamon Bun, and Cupcake gourmet syrup flavors. What’s even better is that these new Monin flavors are Kosher, Halal, dairy free, vegan, gluten free and GMO free.

As soon as the new Monin flavors arrived, we dove right in and tried the Cinnamon Bun Latte recipe that’s listed on the bottle. We were skeptical but to our surprise, ended up describing the experience as very “authentic” – it’s almost as satisfying as consuming an entire cinnamon bun with the full taste of cinnamon and brown sugar with a decadent icing on top (sans most of the calories)!

Here’s how we made the Monin Cinnamon Bun Latte:
Combine one ounce of Monin Cinnamon Bun Syrup and 1 shot of espresso in a 16 oz cup. Stir while filling with steamed milk. Top with whipped cream or milk froth and finish off with a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Other great bakery flavors from Monin will deliver an equally satisfying experience are Chocolate Chip Cookie, Apple Pie, Key Lime Pie, Pecan Pie, Pumpkin Pie, and Gingerbread.

Take your taste buds on a vacation to the Caribbean Islands with Monin’s new Piña Colada Smoothie Mix. Talk about nostalgia, the first official Piña Colada drink was created in the early 1800′s by a Puerto Rican pirate. The recipe was buried with him and it wasn’t until 1954 when the official Piña Colada recipe was reborn in Puerto Rico after months of experimenting to strike the perfect balance of fresh pineapple, creamy coconut and rum. Since then, the Piña Colada has been the official drink of Puerto Rico. Now, you can relish the refreshing flavor with Monin’s Piña Colada Smoothie Mix. It’s dairy free, all natural and of course (as with all the Monin Smoothie mixes), it’s gluten free. It’s non-alcoholic, but for an adult version of the tropical Piña Colada, just add rum and blend. For a twist, combine equal parts Monin Strawberry and Monin Piña Colada Fruit Smoothie Mix, blend and garnish with fresh fruit.

Want more recipe ideas? One of the things we love about Monin is their support to café owners and operators. Monin provides a complimentary merchandising kit that helps to increase specialty beverage sales with new recipes, counter cards, and window clings. If you don’t already get them, give us a call and we’ll send you the Monin Spring/Summer 2013 kit.

All of these new products from Monin will all be featured at the upcoming Coffee Fest at Navy Pier in Chicago so if you plan to go this weekend (6/07 – 6/09), be sure to stop by booth # 410 & 412 to check it out.
