Recipe: Homemade Butter!

Flavored Butters

There are many reasons we like to let someone else do the cooking – mostly, it’s the small details that make eating out so enjoyable. The house chef usually creates his own signature items, including flavored butters.

You can make your own artisan butter flavors too and thanks to Viatmix, we can tell you how!

Any variety of herbs such as basil, chives, rosemary and cilantro will work to make butter that could easily be tossed with hot pasta and vegetables or drizzling on grilled meats.

Even though the bread may not be homemade, the butter can be! Add a little sweet like honey, molasses, and cinnamon to make butter you can spread on warm bread.

Directions:

1. Blend heavy whipping cream at a high variable speed until the mixture becomes thick.

2. Continue blending in five-second intervals at a lower speed, scraping contents off the sides of the container between blends. Repeat this process until you’ve achieved the right spreadable consistency and fluid appears.

3. Drain excess fluid and store the butter in an airtight container.

Try making Honey Butter and Citrus Butter to start. Then create your own flavor blends by adding some of the following:

Herbs: rosemary, basil, chives, cilantro, dill, sage, lemongrass, lemon thyme, lavender
Bold Flavors: Sun-dried tomatoes, olives, capers, peppadew peppers, horseradish
For Sweetness: Honey, molasses, maple syrup, figs, prunes, raisins, dates, dried pineapple, mango, or apricot
Spices: Cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, garam masala (a sweet, exotic blend of traditional Indian spices)
